The Meningie Visitor Information Outlet is located in The Chambers. The building was built in 1889 as chambers for the District Council. It was the meeting place for various groups and entertainment and it also housed the Institute Library. Many changes and extensions have been made over the years.
After a number of years of limited use, Coorong Cottage Industries moved into the main building and the once established Alberts Coffee Shop is now housed by the Lakes Hub Information Centre which has offices at Milang and Meningie.
The Lakes Hubs were established to assist with the dissemination of information and provide collaborative links between Government and local communities. The Lakes Hub are situated at Daranda Terrace Milang and 14 Princess Highway Meningie. Both offices provide visitor information for the Coorong and Lower Lakes region, information on other South Australian regions as well as delivering environmental communication for the Coorong, Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth site.
The Meningie Information Centre is open 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, with information available from 10am to 4.30pm on the weekends through Coorong Cottage Industries. ...
