Sandhurst Ridge is one of the gems of the Bendigo region. This boutique winery has been producing award-winning wines since their first vintage in 1995.
Sandhurst Ridge wines are handcrafted by the owners, brothers Paul and George Greblo, who are proud to be continuing a family tradition of winemaking which began generations ago in northern Italy.
The picturesque vineyard nestles against a state forest, and is planted to shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, sauvignon blanc, and in tribute to their Italian origins, a Nebbiolo. Ralph Kyte-Powell awarded this winery four and a half stars to this "intriguing Bendigo red".
Being only 15 minutes from the centre of Bendigo, virtually guarantees an informative conversation with someone with hands-on knowledge of the vines as well as the wines, since Paul (the winemaker) and George (the vineyard manager) reside on the estate and it is a Italian family run business.
Boutique, self-contained vineyard accommodation is available at Sandhurst Ridge. They provide two one-bedroom cottages, for visitors who wish to stay longer in the Bendigo wine region. The accommodation is brand new as it only opened in 2012.
