You can find out more about the tragedy of the historic Clan Ranald at the Edithburgh Museum and visit the graves to pay your respects to the lives lost in this unfortunate shipwreck. The turret deck ship SS Clan Ranald, was wrecked off of Troubridge Hill in January 1909 with the loss of forty lives. Loaded mostly with wheat and flour at Port Adelaide, she was bound for South Africa when shifting of the cargo ultimately caused the tragedy. Of the lives lost, 36 bodies were recovered including five Officers and 31 'Lascars'. They were interred at Edithburgh Cemetery with much kindness from the local people of this tiny little community. The cemetery is open all hours.
