Stop At: Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park, Tasmania Australia

Our professional guide/s will collect you from your hotel or the Cradle Mountain National Park Visitor Centre. Once all guests are on board, we drive into the National Park during which time our guides will give an interesting commentary about the Park and an explanation of the tour. After a 20 minute journey we arrive at Dove Lake where there will be chance to capture the great views of the lake and across to Cradle Mountain, at times the Mountain will be shrouded in cloud but this still offers the incredible scenery of the lake.

After the awe of viewing the area we take a short drive to Waldheim Chalet, the first accommodation in the area and home to Gustav and Kate Weindorfer. The original chalet was built by them in 1912 but what stands today is a full replica built in the 1970â€™s by similar techniques using local King Billy pine.
After we take a tour through the chalet we are led through the ancient King Billy Pine Weindorfers Forest, a short walk of 15 minute through cool temperate rainforest. Our guides will highlight all the different tree and plant species and you may even see some of the local animals. On the return to the bus we have samples of the different unique timbers that are used by specialist timber workers for you to feel and touch.

We leave the Waldheim area and travel to the Interpretive Centre and Rangers Station where you can view the many photos and read interesting articles of the region.
From here we proceed out to the Pencil Pine Falls loop track, walking amongst giant Myrtle and Pencil Pine trees en-route to Pencil Pine Falls.
At the conclusion of this interactive and interesting tour we return to your hotel or other designated drop off drop off point.

James gave a really great entertaining commentary about Cradle Mountain, its highlights, flowers, history and great walks to go on (on top of the two he took us on)

Unfortunately for us it was raining and there was low cloud so we didn’t actually get to see Cradle Mountain. Mel our guide was fantastic though and we enjoyed our personal tour of Dove Lake and the Waldheim Chalet and rain forest. It was quite a miserable day but Mel made it a memorable experience. We will have to visit again on another holiday so we can see the mountain top that is Cradle Mountain.

Our tour guide Mel was amazing! It was our first time in Cradle and we did this tour and the night tour and both were a great intro to the park as we were a bit overwhelmed at where to start.

Just would like to say thanks to Mel for making our day awesome she was a lot of fun and very knowledgeable and went above and beyond her call of duty. I would highly recommend this tour even just to get an idea on how it all works and gives you the confidence to be more adventurous

Such a great tour to take if it’s your first time going to cradle mountain. It gives you an idea of which walks / hikes you would want to do. Mel was very informative and knowledgeable. Loved it

James was knowledgeable, and it wasn't just a rehearsed spiel - he could tell you about what you asked about. Very interesting. Friendly, and flexible - it was an excellent tour, and at the end we were well ready to explore more of the area. Highly recommended - why blunder about on your own, when visiting this wonderland for the first time? James opened our eyes - showed us more than we would have found by ourselves, and gave us insight into what we were seeing - geology, plants, weather, history, and ideas about how the bits of the park we were seeing would change through the seasons. Great introduction to the place.

After an early start from Richmond to get to Cradle Mountain by 11.00am, it was a relief that our tour still proceeded even though it became just the 2 of us. Despite the heavy rain, we thoroughly enjoyed the drive through the Park as we were so impressed with our guide Rita's enthusiasm, knowledge and passion for all things Cradle Mountain. Awesome!

Booked from Cunard Cruise ship. Belinda ws tour guide and coach driver. Excellent in every way. She wS extremely friendly and so knowledgeable about both the area and Tasmania in general. Cannot recommend high enough.
