One of Australiaâ€™s most significant historical sites for women, the Female Factory was the female equivalent of Port Arthur and was used to hold both women and children throughout the 1820â€™s. It was a terrible place with only the most basic of facilities. Some ruins of the original building and walls still exist. A memorial garden and information wall/structure has been set up at the site to remember the tragic lives of those women.

Join our escorted short tour of the Observatory on the summit of Mt Wellington and a self guided tour to the Western Wilderness Lookout to view one of the last true wilderness areas on the planet!

On our descent from the mountain enjoy a short easy walk around the amazing Exhibition Gardens at the midway point "The Springs" There's also time to purchase a hot drink"

Visit one of Hobart City's classic gardens The Cascade Gardens which lies against the Hobart Rivulet near the historic Cascade Brewery.

We scheduled this trip and was a lot of fun. The ride to the top of Mount Wellington was interesting and tight roads. The view was spectacular at 4,170 feet. At the top, there was snow and sleet with complete could cover. Within 15 minutes, the clouds were gone and got the view we were waiting for. The tour was great and love the commentary from the guide. We also stopped at got a great view of the Organ Pipes and stopped by the female factory. We learned a lot about how the area was settled and by whom.

went up on a perfect day the views were amazing and the tour was very interesting and informative our tour guide Nigel was the person who really made it fantastic he couldnt be more perfect for the job he is in and has historic connections himself right back to the convict days. he made it so good i went on another tour with him

We scheduled this tour over a month in advance not knowing what the weather would be like. The day was beautiful and we found out we were the only ones going on the day we were scheduled. We so appreciate that we were then taken on a private tour (instead of it being cancelled due to low participants) The weather was beautiful and the views were amazing. SO glad we didn’t miss out on this tour! We can’t say enough good things about Sue our driver/ tour guide for personalizing our tour in such a wonderful way and for dropping us off at our next tour location.

We did not get the chance to go up Mount Wellington due to the snow fall from the previous days. Roads were closed for our protections. However, we did make a detour to Mount Nelson's to make up a mountain climb. Made a pit stop to Cascade Brewery and the Old Women's Prison. August is off peak, the van was only half filled - roughly 12 of us.

I have already given a review about ging up to Mount Wellington. It is worthwhile going up to the very top and see a most beautiful view.

The tour was good & informative - kudos to the experienced guide! Unfortunately, we were not able to go to the peak of Mt Wellington as the road was closed due to an unsual snowfall. We were only allowed to go up to the half-mark & I experienced my 1st snowfall! It was beautiful!!
